Cerused White Oak Flooring

Cerused white oak flooring. I d like to do my white oak floors natural with a white ceruse but is it hard to make it look good. Our imagination product line is considered a cerused effect or in centuries gone by it was referred to liming. A second pass is run where the chosen color. Cerused oak is staging a comeback and i couldn t be more excited.
Ceruse can be applied to any type of hardwood furniture flooring cabinet shelving or even trim. In earlier years it was preferred that the wood stain was dark and the grain was white creating a large contrast in the colors. Work with the grain not against it. Deeper brushing can be problematic in that it can snag everyday dust and in the case of household pets.
The process involves three steps where wire brushing takes place that removes the springwood of white oak. Oak s highly visible grain makes it one of the surfaces for the finish. When quarter sawn oak is cerused we are able to add a white glaze and use a special brush to make sure the glaze seeps into the grain without affecting the color of the stain thus giving texture to the surface of the wood. Because it s such a versatile finish it makes a great way to spruce up old humdrum wooden items and give them some contemporary flair.
I don t think it s hit this area yet so my floor guy might not have done it before and we don t share the same primary language. If you want to preserve the background color of the wood and have the white only in the grain it requires a different technique than simply using a white pickle stain. I m worried he might say yes simply to be agreeable when he doesn t. Cerused wood is also known as cerused oak or limed oak because it s often found on this species of wood.

Wire brushed hardwood is a minor form of distressing but does depend on the depth of the brushing. Dating way back to the 1500s ceruse white lead was originally used in cosmetics until furniture makers discovered that it worked beautifully as an overlay on porous woods. A brass bristle type will not scratch the wood too much.
